Counter award analysis & future direction of dispute
All members should now be aware that the Department has lodged a document in the courts that seeks to gut our Award. The Union has now called a meeting of all delegates to fully explain what the Department has proposed and seek input from members. This meeting will be held at 10 am Tuesday April 22 at the Union office 1 Belmore St. Surry Hills.
The meeting will include an analysis of the Department’s claim on our conditions and the future direction of the Union’s wage campaign.
The Department’s submission to the IRC will have profound and far-reaching consequences for our job, our wages and our conditions. It is vitally important that as many members as possible are able to appreciate exactly what the Department is proposing for us and asking the courts to ratify.
This meeting will be critical to the outcome of the award case and all members are requested to contact their delegates and ascertain if they will be attending. In cases where the delegates are on duty or unable to attend members are requested to arrange a substitute to attend in liaison with their delegate. Members are requested to liaise with each other to arrange a representative from their station to attend in cases where the station delegate is on leave or their station has no delegate.
